Levamisole FAQs: Veterinary Labels and Product Precautions

These levamisole FAQs concern veterinary label interpretation. They do not describe an individual human treatment or establish the status of any particular shop listing. Updated 29 October 2026.

What does a levamisole veterinary label cover?

For example, Prohibit soluble drench powder contains levamisole hydrochloride and is labelled for specified nematode infections in cattle and sheep.

Is that product for human use?

No. The cited Prohibit label expressly says it is not for use in humans. A veterinary approval is not evidence of a human indication.

Does the ingredient name identify the whole product?

No. Check the salt, concentration, formulation, manufacturer and intended species. A powder for reconstitution is not the same description as a ready-to-use liquid or tablet.

Can I transfer one product’s instructions to another?

Do not do so based only on the word levamisole. The veterinarian needs the exact label and animal details to choose appropriate treatment.

What about meat, milk and other restrictions?

Read the exact product’s precautions and withdrawal instructions with your veterinarian. A general ingredient FAQ cannot supply a universal withholding period.

What if I need information for a person?

Ask a pharmacist or prescribing clinician to identify the exact human medicine and applicable local information. This veterinary example cannot answer whether that separate product is appropriate.
